I own a CF-EW71 and want to upgrade to OPENWRT which is offered for it ( https://openwrt.org/toh/comfast/cf-ew72). My question is... the original OEM interface offers a wizard to configure the device as a Router, Access Point, Bridge or Repeater. Does the OPENWRT interface offer this capability?
Thanks !
No, you have to configure it yourself.
Also, the default configuration is a router. But it's simple to turn your configuration into any of the modes you just listed. There are step-by-step guides available as well.
Where would I find these simple insructions and guides for changing the configuration?
As I mentioned, the default configuration is a Router. You just have to tailor it to your specific setup (ip subnets, aditional dhcp servers, enabling wifi, etc)
For a AP configuration, you have this guide.
For a repeater, you have this guide.
For a bridge, you have a few options, I suggest you think about your needs, but I leave you with a few reading material. There are a few technologies you can use for bridging (WDS, relayd, 802.11s). You can also search the forum for specific configuration help, or ask yourself.
Furthermore, You can create scripts to easily change beetween modes of operation, I have done so for a few of my devices and can help you if that is something you desire.
