I can see that a majority of people who are looking at this thread are thinking in the same path you are.

aka -> Trying to make Luci do multi device management the same way ,and to the same extent as specifically targeted or existing solutions.

That was never the intent of the this post, so I will modify the OP to help clarify that.

Dunno if useful, but perhaps it moves the discussion from "running luci on the device" (no OpenWrt device is going to have the resources to run a headless browser, Javascript and all) to plausible ways of actually achieving the desired end result. A lot of work, though!

Thanks for your input. I wanted to clarify the "Multiple devices" portion of this thread, as many were jumping over the primary advantages of off device Luci. Yes multi management can be done to the extent you and others are referring to, but lets walk before we run.

I understand and don't get me wrong, I am not against others using their time to build solutions, but I do want to say out loud: building a network management solution is not a simple task, look at all the failed abandoned projects out there, new endavours will most likely end up the same way. Developing a linux distro is fundamentally different than building a network management solution. The maintainers who enjoy building OpenWrt do not enjoy building a network controller, so it's a stretc…

Like others said before, this would in fact be architecturally challenging for LuCI. It is an excellent idea, but your chances of getting this implemented are equally like of developing a new UI from scratch. Quite literally. You would have to entirely refactor LuCI for this.
