Cant specify network for new ssid

I got my vlan3 associated wifi ssid to work (ollie5lan3) .
In order to do this I had to create it via Luci with no network specified since the 'save' button does nothing if I try to specify the network.
I then manually edited the /etc/config/wireless entry for 'ollie5lan3' adding

option network 'lan3'

After restarting network service the new ssid works on vlan3

Once again this issue smacks of a Luci/javascript problem
