Cant flash TP-Link WDR 3600

I tried to flash openwrt over the webinterface from tp-link. I get the Message:

Please choose a file to upgrade!

I have to cut the filename. When I cut the filename, I get

Error code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.

Ok, third try. I try it with tftp under debian 12.

I renamed the file factory image from openwrt in wdr3600v1_tp_recovery.bin. I can see in my logs oft the tftp server:

in.tftpd[5907]: RRQ from 192.168.0.86 filename wdr3600v1_tp_recovery.bin

The device takes a minute, restarts and NO openwrt is installed.

Can anoybody help?

check the stock fw version ?

My firmware is:

that's not an answer to the question based on the wiki.

and as for the TFTP recovery, do you have a 3600 v1.5 ?

I have 3600 version 1.3 ...

I dont know what you mean with it?

the TFTP recovery is documented for 1.5, we can't be sure it works in 1.3, unless you can find a post confirming it (I haven't looked).

Current versions of the TP-Link firmware for this router, at least in the US, reject custom firmware and refuse to flash it. If your TP-Link firmware is too new and rejects the OpenWRT firmware file, even after giving it a sufficiently short filename, follow this procedure to install an unlocked TP-Link firmware:

  1. Obtain the TP-Link unlocking firmware. It can be obtained through TP-Link support, and is also attached to this post on the DD-WRT forum, although registration is required to download it from there. It may also be in IPFS.

etc ...

Yes, I used the image with tpft.

Please tell me ... Witch file is the right one?

factory-to-ddwrt.bin
factory-to-ddwrt-us.bin
tl-wdr3600_us-webflash.bin
tl-wdr3600-webflash.bin

which one did you flash ?

factory-to-ddwrt-us.bin ... the device is very hard to flash

then I guess you should have used the webflash

How to do it? With tftp?

that's what I would have done.

But I have to rename it, into wdr3600v1_tp_recovery.bin?

Coz dd-wrt ist staring now, all the time ...

the TFTP should always pull the same filename, unless the dd-wrt image changed the boot loader settings.

Ok, start from the beginning ...
I see this:

RRQ from 192.168.0.86 filename wdr3600v1_tp_recovery.bin

The device is searching for this file. Now, I rename the file tl-wdr3600-webflash.bin in wdr3600v1_tp_recovery.bin. The device take some time and then, dd-wrt is booting again.

What should I do? Please help me, step by step ...

well, you flashed dd-wrt instead of the tp-link image.

you should probably check with dd-wrt how to get back to stock.
