I have a TP link C20 router. It has 3 antennas, two for 2.4 ghz and one for 5 ghz.
Now, if I configure my router to act as a dumb repeater for a 2.4 ghz network, I can connect my devices to either 2.4 or 5 ghz, doesn't matter. But if I configure to repeat a 5 ghz network, I cant connect my device to 5 ghz, but have to connect to 2.4 ghz.
- Is this normal?
- Is it because I only have one antenna for 5 ghz?
- Also, I check github rss for releases of new versions of my router. So simply updating/upgrading that is enough, or should I also upgrade packages?

Let's take a look at the way you've setup your device...
First, is it correct to assume that the upstream network connection is a wireless uplink from the C20 to the main router?
What is the upstream device -- is it running OpenWrt or something else?

There is a main router not running openwrt.
My openwrt tplink c20 router is connected to the main router wirelessly, and acting as a dumb repeater.
