Cannot connect to Reolink-camera with UTF-8 marked

Unfortunately there are no Unify cameras, which do not need PoE. PoE is better for sure, but I cannot use it.

In the meantime I solved it.

Is there a connection between SSID and open port?

Reolink changed the default behavior a lot. With the latest firmware all ports are closed, except 9000. With Openwrt-SSIDs you see "UTF-8".

The next challenge is, that there are 2 settings symbols.

There is a "big" main setting symbol in the upper right corner.

settingssymbols1

Then there is a small setting symbol with every camera on the left side.

settingssymbols2

And here we go to Server settings. You won't find this, when pressing the "normal / old" settings symbol in the upper right corner as it was with a browser. Now I have to use Windows to access. Default is now, that all ports are closed.

After the ports are activated the UTF-8 symbols at the SSIDs disappear and then I can connect to the openwrt-aps. Last time i had open ports with UTF-8 and openwrt not working.

In the meantime I was able to update to E1_Outdoor_Pro_2838_23102510 with the android phone. Maybe the changes are with this firmware.

Nope.

This points to a terrible firmware implementation by Reolink. There is no reason whatsoever that the services/ports open on a device should affect the way that it connects to a wifi network.

I'm glad it's finally working!

It is not so easy to find a brand which support what I need.

Powered not by PoE
Works with every browser / 3rd party android app
Supports http
ONVIF
a.s.o

But Reolink starts reducing features:

Specifically, there are the following six types of ports for almost all the Reolink WiFi and PoE cameras. Please note that E1/Lumus does not support HTTP/HTTPS/RMTP/RSTP/ONVIF connection, E1 Pro does not support HTTP/HTTPS/RMTP ports.

And then there are tons of cameras with similar names and variations. E1 Pro does not support HTTP, while E1 Outdoor Pro does.

Hard to find a vendor with my needs. Maybe Hikvision, but they are a lot more expensive with less resolution, if you want wifi.
