'Can not detect current IP using network_get_ipaddr 'wan'' in Dynamic DNS 2.8.2-r64

root@Hall:~# /etc/init.d/ddns stop
root@Hall:~# /etc/init.d/ddns start
root@Hall:~# 173305 ERROR : Can not detect current IP using network_get_ipaddr 'wan' - Error: '1' - TERMINATE
173305 ERROR : Can not detect current IP using network_get_ipaddr 'wan' - Error: '1' - TERMINATE
  1. I have Dynamic DNS 2.8.2-r64 running
  2. To change my IP, I run ifup wan and ifdown wan until I get a new IP
  3. Then I run /etc/init.d/ddns restart, usually it works without error
  4. But sometimes, I get the above error
  5. It is not transient and causes all my hostnames to fail
  6. The only way I found to make it go away is to ifup and ifdown again
  7. This leads me to believe it is perhaps some bug rather than my setup

Can you provide your network, firewall and DDNS config file for review?

Please redact and personal information.

I updated my OP, please have a re-read. Thank you.

Thanks for the update.

Feel free to provide the requested information at your convenience.

Post your /etc/config/network file, as already requested by @lleachii.

Did your possible solution work?

If not, feel free to provide the relevant configs at your convenience.

It’s the equivalent of running:

ifstatus wan | jsonfilter -e '@["ipv4-address"][0].address'

Try that or just ifstatus wan next time it fails to see the state of the wan ipv4.

For intermittent issues, it is quite impossible to prove that it will not happen again. What I actually wanted was help to reproduce it consistently and then fix it

As for the config, redacting is a pain, let me get to it.
