Can I possibly flash Asus RT-AC68U to Tenda AC18? Exactly same hardware

Whatever I am gonna do it. Wish me luck guys. But would it brick? This is intense...

Too rich to care huh?

Unless you overwrite the bootloader (cfe) it won't brick but why flash tenda on asus?

Same hardware. Because there is no tenda ac18 firmware for openwrt.

And result is: it didn't work :frowning: back to cfe web recovery :frowning: okay fresh tomato it is then :frowning:

Note: dd wrt also didn't work.

I'm a bit surprised but freshtomato is a better solution anyway

Why? I think it's kernel 2.6.36, but they backport the security fixes right?

for a 15 year old kernel?

yes they do - but better join the forums and ask there https://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?forums/tomato-firmware.33/

for example pedro311 / freshtomato-arm / Commit c45bd12e0bfa — Bitbucket

that's actually pretty impressive, assuming all fixes can be back ported ...

ARM isn't big like X86 so I assume there are much less things to backport. Even my ISP provided Archer C5V still get updates. It uses 2.6.36 also.

I beg to differ I use DDWRT for my Broadcom stuff which uses K4.4 which is still supported and regularly updated, beside native WireGuard implementation etc.
That said FT is nice

let's agree to disagree
..and OP already reported
