Can anyone recommend a community build for this router ?
I would prefer stable operation over (pre installed) features and i'm too underskilled to build my own one.
I've tried the latest build of davidc502 but for me it's overloaded with packages and features and for some reason i suffer from random reboots.
And I think david's builds doesn't include a CPU frequency scaling driver so the router will always run at it's highest frequency. Please correct me if im wrong here...

The WRT AC Series device wiki is where one should begin, just as the device wiki of any device is where one should begin prior to flashing.
2018.05.27: Updated wiki links to new wiki site (https://openwrt.org/toh/start & https://openwrt.org/docs/start )

Since one person has already viewed the script, if utilizing, I made a typo, doubling sudo
commands by adding it to the usage command, which has now been corrected (script must be ran as the logged in user without sudo
, $ag
variable already contains it)
As I was updating the script & ReadMe for Ubuntu 17.10, I saw a few areas for improvement, which I'll be adding when I have time today or tomorrow:
Adding a a pause with a link to Build Environment Usage prior to entering menuconfig
, coupled with a recommendation to read it prior to bypassing the pause, as menuconfig does require manual input and must be configured for the appropriate device, else one will end up with a compiled image for the ar71xx devices
Adding a pause and recommendation to backup the def and diff configs

Thanks for your input.
I found hnyman's build and it has the CPU frequenzy Scaling driver and up to date kmod-sched-cake.
SQM-QoS is something i would really need !
Adblock and dnscrypt-proxy should be easy to install via packages right ?
@JW0914
Thanks for the provided links !!
I will read about the building process...
Maybe i should buy a second Router for Lede/Openwrt so i can get used to the build and testing proccess without loosing my main Router, which is in daily use.
But to be honest I would still prefer the build of a experienced guy...

Thanks ! Im gonne test your build as well...
You may want to wait on the 4.14 build as @hauke put up changes of consequence for the mvebu targets about 4 hours back. Maybe @lucize will post an update to that image.

The changes are minor regarding to this image, Hauke posted them after I confirmed to him this build is working

Would you recommend to boot into Linksys partition and flash the new build from over there ?
I do want to avoid any problems with the old build...

it's not worth the trouble
you could not save changes on sysupgrade, but you should not get any troubles if you save them.
if you save the changes, delete the /etc/config/wireless
and recreate it using wifi config
if you want to revert to kernel 4.9 ubifs partition will need to be force erased [solved] Wrt3200acm 4.14 downgrade to 4.9 ubifs problem

Well it seems that i also have memory problems.
My free memory constantly go down, so i rather dont want to save any settings of the old build anyway.
For me it's also no problem to boot into the Linksys partition. Advanced reboot package is installed...
Just saw some bad news about Dnscrypt-proxy: https://github.com/dyne/dnscrypt-proxy
I really liked that package...

Under what situation? Are you performing file transfers, and noticing after, or during, the transfer RAM is substantially used? This was an issue months back with WRT AC Series routers, and If so, you need a swap partition on external storage.

JW0914:

No it happens all the time, regardless of my usage.
I think it's something in david's build... haven't figured it out yet.
My free ram is at 57% after a reboot and constantly goes down... last time i had 24% after a few days and than my router rebooted.
I guess it's because of the bloat of software packages in his build.
Haven't switched to another build yet, hopefully i'll find the time tonight.

RAM shouldn't go down due to packages installed, as installed packages are installed to nand flash [ROM], not RAM. I'd take a look at your /tmp
folder, as that's where RAM is mounted:
du -akLh /tmp | grep K ; df -h /tmp
.
While this could be a memory leak, its far more likely there's some large files being written to RAM for some reason, and once RAM is completely filled, the router reboots as it can't function without available RAM.
@davidc502 is quite good at responding to issues within his firmware, so I'd also shoot him a PM

Well than i have to register at openwrt forums first.
I haven't seen someone here complaining about any memory leeks (3200acm), so maybe it's up to my config.
Is there any easy guide howto put a swap partition on external storage ?
I do have a spare USB stick avalible...

You can't PM on the OpenWrt forum, but you can on this forum.
I would start with the commands I provided to determine what's causing the issue, as well as PM'ing david in the mean time.

That looks normal... the important thing will be issuing the exact same command when you're seeing high RAM usage.
Also, please edit your post, replacing quote brackets with code
back ticksFor multi lined code or logs, you'll do:
three back ticks on new line,
code/log output on the next lines,
three back ticks on new line
You can also quote this post to see an example

there is a ticket on https://bugs.lede-project.org/ regarding to memory leak, It happened to me too, if pppoe service is not running there will be ~2M memory leak on every retry, so it will go on low memory preity quick, didn't test this kernel to see if this problem is solved
are you using pppoe or some low quality ISP connectivity ?
