The icon in from of the "OpwnWrt Forum" text at the top of the forum website is broken.
It points to https://forum.openwrt.org/uploads/default/original/3X/6/8/683302b5dac2617ce24fa17662d560d62c18e4b7.png which gives a 404.
Here is what it looks like to me, on any forum page:
It's working for me.
The forum software was just updated recently, so it's possible that the image location changed or some other related change occurred. However, it's also possible that there's a caching issue on your browser. Can you try another browser? If it still fails, we can look further into it.
Thanks for looking at it.
I opened the same page with Firefox and although the "broken image" icon doesn't appear, Firefox does try to access the same URL (https://forum.openwrt.org/uploads/default/original/3X/6/8/683302b5dac2617ce24fa17662d560d62c18e4b7.png) and when hovering over the link in the "Inspect" window, it says "Could not load the image":
Hmmm... actually, seems like my browser might be the one with the caching... I think the image is currently still in my cache, so it's working. lol
@thess - can you take a look at this?
Interestingly, when I scroll down the forum page to view the bottom of our conversation, the image DOES seem to appear:
it disappears when I scroll back to the top.
As if it is correct in one location on the site but not another.
This is on Chrome on MacOS.
On Firefox, the icon still doesn't appear but it shows an
OpenWrte Forum
text when scrolling down, which disappears when I scroll back to the top of the page.
Same issue here, except not only the icon is affected: ALL images are gone
If you go to see the latest topics, you can see that everyone who had a custom profile icon now has a placeholder one.
Also, it seems that embedded images are also gone? Here's an example: OpenWrt 24.10.0 - First Stable Release - #118 by stevewaffler
Regarding the embedded images - it's interesting that the screenshots I included in this thread still appear - perhaps the image location was changed and old images are not where they are expected now?
EDIT: comparing "my" images with the image from your sample thread link:
Mine: https://forum.openwrt.org/uploads/default/original/3X/6/2/62bec88b37a13f1ef4c11d7b4b4cba1d09af351f.png
Example of missing image:
https://forum.openwrt.org/uploads/default/original/3X/0/f/0f7991ea8631c7eb19bf7198bb037de75d1a716a.png
So it appears that they are in the same location, just missing.
Yeah, that's probably what's happening.
Someone had a similar issue here: https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-missing-images-after-upgrade/204114
It's working for me on Brave and Edge.
Takes me back to forum's main home page.
Does it show you the images?
HTTP 404 means that the URL is pointing to the wrong image location on the server.
The <A>
link could still be working if it points to the right location, but that's separate from the image on the button.
Yes, something is definitely broken during the latest upgrade. I will be taking the forum offline today for while to repair it - Hopefully with minimal loss of data (like none).
I have not had a list of multiple participants of a thread in weeks.
Oh wait; that link the OP mentioned is now missing the OpenWrt logo.
Confirming the issue - images are broken today (but only some of those used in the hidden block).
If try to download image:
Just click on the 'Hamburger menu' sign to hide the left part.
Then you'll get a wider participant list.
All uploaded images have been restored as of yesterday at ~01:00 UTC. Any images / items uploaded in the last 15hrs are currently in 'limbo' but we have copies. If restoration is not possible, then they are lost. The good news is the forum is back up and the missing data volume has been restored.
Something is still glitching:
I tried to upload the snip to my previous post (since it was lost) and it won't show.
e.g.:
No option to even size it.
The ever-clever forum software probably found the hash to the previous image and if the same, there was no need to make another copy. Problem is still fixing the broken links to the missing images and re-indexing the DB. Try a different image and let me know what happens.
As part of the resolution to fixing missing uploads, I may very well delete this topic and make my task easier.
<drum roll...\> Tada!
