Brntools is telling me that i don't have the required rights

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the entire topic and need help.
I have an Easybox 803A ( Arcadyan ARV752DPW22) and I am currently trying to turn it into an AP. I now have the following problem: brntools (https://github.com/rvalles/brntool) is not working and i get a message that I don't have the rights... I also saw some other recommendations (tftpgui 2.2 and ptftpd), which don't work due to the first requiring Python 2.7 which was removed from Fedora 41 (my system) and the latter having arguments that I don't understand.
Did anyone ever have the issue of brntools not working?
I tried running it as sudo, with the same effect.
If anyone knows how to get it working or has an alternative, don't hesitate to tell me.
Thanks in advance, Tomhero200

Have you reached out to the author of the package you've installed? Since it didn't come directly from the official OpenWrt repo, it is less likely that you'll get a meaningful solution here.

I didn't even install OpenWrt yet. I'm currently working on making an backup of the original Firmware. I can enter U-Boot, if that helps...

Given that this isn't actually an issue with OpenWrt, I would suggest that you reach out to the author of that tool for help.

He was sadly inactive for the last three years... Do you maybe know an alternative which may work?

I don't, no. I wouldn't get your hopes up for answers from this forum since the tool you are using has nothing to do with OpenWrt.

Still thank you.

You might try on the openwrt-devel irc channel on irc.oftc.net, the devs there often deal with this sort of thing.

Another alternative would be trying a period-correct linux (live-) distribution, there shouldn't be a need to install it, just to run their live media. E.g. Debian 9/ stretch should do the job, there might be some juggling required to re-point the source.list to the archived mirror contents for stretch, but you'll only need it for an hour anyways.

That aside, this is a very low-end device, barely meeting minimum system requirements now - and it will completely fall out of support after 24.10.x. Danube (contrary to xrx200/ vr9) has not seen much/ any testing in recent years either, and the wireless hardware (RT3062F/ rt2x00) is not that well supported (especially for AP mode), so I would reconsider how far you really want to go with this. You local second hand markets probably have much better hardware for rather little money.

You are asking for a lot of pain here, and brntools is just the very beginning...
