Bricked Netgear DGND 3700? Advice please

Hi, it's not a big deal to me but I would like to try to un-brick my recent purchase of a DGND3700v1...

I have put openwrt and rooter on this, and all was working fine.
I wanted to experiment and return it to stock, so I followed the instructions in - [OpenWrt Wiki] NETGEAR DGND3700 v1 / DGND3800B...

It says to take the stock Netgear f/w and remove the first 65 bytes (decimal I assume...) which I did with a hex editor. I flashed this as the instructions said from the ROOter web gui but now I have a solid red power light... It's unresponsive to ping.

Pressing the reset on power up results in a flashing red power light after 10 seconds or so, and it responds to ping. The Wiki says this is a failsafe mode with a tftp server, and I have tried uploading various firmware to it, but none seem to get it to boot. I have tried openwrt, rooter and stock netgear...

Does anyone have any thoughts please?

Thanks...

Serial console, to see what's actually going on inside...

Yes, I've ordered a couple of TTL to USB convertors from eBay and we shall see what we shall see! 3.3 / 5 V switchable...

Thanks!
