BPI R2 - Expanding package memory to full Emmc capacity

Hello,
after installing OpenWRT on the Banana Pi R2, there is still 7.1Gb of free memory left out of 8Gb. Only 100Mb is reserved for packages. This is very little for some packages. does anyone know how to use the full memory capacity? I would like at least 1Gb of memory for packages for sure.

I have tried various instructions, the memory expands, but after a reboot the memory disappears again.

if you create an additional partition, does it disappear too ?
