[BPI-OpenWrt-One] Total Hardware Failure - No signs of life (No LEDs)

"Hi everyone,

I am seeking advice/guidance regarding a total hardware failure on my Banana Pi OpenWrt One unit.

Context:

  • Purchase date: February 24, 2026. Received march 12.
  • The device was functioning normally until it recently stopped responding entirely.
  • Currently, there are no status LEDs lighting up at all when powered on, and the device is completely unresponsive.

Troubleshooting performed:

  • Tested with a stable, verified power supply (15V 2 a same as the one that came with the device and worked for 4 months) – verified with a multimeter.
  • Checked the physical power connection and confirmed the outlet/installation is functional.
  • Verified the onboard boot switch is correctly set to NAND.
  • Performed a long-press (30s) hard reset attempt.

Despite these efforts, the board shows zero signs of life (no power-on self-test LEDs, no activity). As this is an official OpenWrt/Banana Pi hardware collaborative project, I was hoping to find out if there is a known issue with the power regulation circuitry for this batch or if there is a specific RMA protocol I should follow, as direct contact via the manufacturer’s email (info@banana-pi.com) is currently bouncing back. The HW is 24.03 on the sticker.

This device has been used almost exclusively on ethernet, almost no Wi-Fi.

Has anyone else encountered a ‘dead on arrival’ (or early failure) with the OpenWrt One board, or can someone from the project point me toward the correct support channel for hardware warranty claims?

Edit: if you are certain that the PD/PS and USB-C cable are working, is the PWR LED on the top side of the board on when connected?

no more LEDs light up at all. Was working fine but completely stopped at once.

One more information bit : The other PD has a blue light and when connected to the OpenWRT One it blinks whereas it does not blink when using another device.

Have you connected to the USB-C serial port to see if there is 'life' even though the LEDs are not lighting up?

Another option: banana-pi.com, select:Banana PI Hot Products/Hot Products/Smart Router/OpenWrt One. There will be an inquiry form page bottom that might get a direct reply.

Also see the board top image, it points to an onboard PWR led. You have to remove the 4 front panel screws and slide off the top. Can you confirm that led is on when power is applied.

I have connected the BPI OpenWrt One ‘Console’ USB-C port to my Linux machine and checked with lsusb.

The device is not detected at all by my system. I have verified my cable and USB port with other devices, and they are working as expected. Given that the board shows no activity on the LEDs and is not recognized as a USB device on the console port, it confirms that the board is completely unresponsive to power.

I removed the front panel and no life there as all 3 lights are off.
