Bought MT6000 to replace E8450 for Black Friday, same weird problem with download speed

I'm using a fairly new Samsung 990 EVO Plus as my boot drive. I'm fairly certain it's not a problem with my computer, which is quite beefy in other ways, but I appreciate all ideas and suggestions to look at.

Yea then this sound unlikely idd, if iperf3 also shows big changes, are you on a windows pc?

You could try to play around by looking at the properties for the network driver and see if turning off the offloading there does some kind of change.

I learned that from ipv6, I actually learned two things from it:

  • either a driver is incompatible with the offloading
  • or there is incompatibility with multiple prefixes on the driver.

To me it was the last one every 10min no ipv6 and other device worked fine :face_savoring_food:, but i guess you may not use ipv6, but maybe the drivers offloading feature is messing around something it has a very small chance though.

Do you have a fiber ont/gatway device? Your ISP can push out firmware that can be bad. Confirm that its wifi is off, in passthrough/bridge mode, and all extra things are turned off. (My ISP has a terrible IDS/IPS that a few people have had turn on at random.)

Wipe settings and flash 24.10 on both. Config MT6000 as a wired router that has a wired uplink to your E8450 running as dumb ap. Retest wifi on the dumb ap only.

previous internet installation technician here, this is super common with speedtesting sites, you cannot rely on them to determine quality, you check them all to verify everything is working but take the results with a grain of salt, they are snapshots into that moment in time and nothing more.

More accurately take one giving most BW and another giving best latency....
