Botcheck makes RSS-feed unusable

Hello,

for some time my RSS-reader cannot update the OpenWRT feeds.

Now I checked what is happening and discovered that a botcheck appears when I open the feed in my browser. I think this kills the request for my rss-reader.

Can you please deactivate this check for your feed-urls?

Kind regards

Thomas

Thankyou for your report. Would you provide some additional information about your RSS reader and what target URLs you are using.

I can allow RSS fetches to by-pass the bot checks if I had more info on what you are trying to access. Any exceptions we implement have the potential of being abused so I will need specifics before we more forward.

Hi thess,

the rss-feed-url is "https://openwrt.org/feed.php" to get all messages.

In addition I use it with some parameters to get only the most important informations seperately: "https://openwrt.org/feed.php?type=rss&mode=list&sort=date&ns=advisory&linkto=current&content=html".

Greetings

Thomas

It seems about 1/3 of the RSS requests are being challenged because they look like browsers. The others are being passed OK. As I asked...

Oh sorry. I'm using Flym on Android. I don't see any option to change the way it retrieves the feeds.

I run 2 RSS reader add ons on Firefox, No problem's here accessing openwrt web site.

I think my readers are set to check for new feeds every hour, I have heard of some readers that don't play nice with web sites and check every minute or less.

You probably do have a setting in the app to change how often it checks

The add ons I use are Feedly and Inoreader

I'm using manual refresh when I have time to look into the feeds. So that shouldn't be a problem.

RSS requests should be OK now - I made some rule adjustments for browser based clients. Thanks again for the feedback.

Thanks - I love using a large user population as unwitting beta-testers
