Block a specific website(url)

how can i block a specific url in openwrt? for example; i want to block youyube.com, how can i do that? in tp link default firmware there was an option like block website. i just simply put youtube.com there and youtube would be blocked.how can i do that in openwrt?

BanIP, but I don’t know the current status of that package after the FW4 transition to nf-tables.

Adblock addon, or if it's just a handful of names, add it to the hosts file.

Just a remark, you can't block URLs, only DNS names.

Is this just a "for an example" thing or do you really want to block youtube.com? Trying to block youtube may have severe side effects due to Google sharing IP addresses within their infrastructure for various products.

And I'd recommend simple-adblock and its WebUI app.

i cant figure out how i can block. ok leave youtube, take openwrt.org as example :stuck_out_tongue: , how can i block ? i have installed luci app adblock and then put openwrt.org in the blocklist but nothing happens. Even i restarted the router but nothing happens. I can still visit openwrt.org

From where?

Do you know for sure your clients actually use your DNSes ?

Maybe ask the person who recommended the adblock package and has experience with it?
