Best way to get noticed about new releases? How do you do it?

Hi,

what’s the best way to get noticed about new releases?

I know there is the mailing list, but i only want to be informed about new releases, incl. service releases, not any beta or release candidates.

Optimal would be solution to auto update after x days of release / install important security patches via Sysupgrade. I know this might break certain things, but i have a pretty much vanilla install, so any ideas would be welcome

I’ve seen this repo, but it seems to be stale (last update 7 years ago). Any best practices around? Some showstoppers i don’t see right away?

looking for your ideas.

if you subscribe to new threads in https://forum.openwrt.org/c/announcements/14, you will get the important stuff, but it'll however also include the RCs.

Subscribing to the openwrt-announce mailing list will have you covered: https://lists.openwrt.org/mailman/listinfo

Auto-upgrading via ASU should be pretty trivially scriptable, if you are so inclined. I personally would not want to have that kind of no-touch automation for networking stuff that might end up preventing remote access for manual recovery operations.

Fair point, i understand you, especially if you have more important stuff running.

This is why i would love a solution that updates right away when a high CVE bug is fixed (risk of not fixing is greater than possible problems with the auto update)

and / or wait after first .1 release, then update.

For me all the previous updates have worked flawlessly via ASU.
