Belkin RT3200/Linksys E8450 WiFi AX discussion

The easiest thing you can do is to add a calendar recurrent task to run owut check on your router(s).

So far, OpenWRT doesn't get updated that often. Point releases are like 3 months in between but packages are constantly updated all the time.

Running owut will certainly generate a new build almost every week with updated packages but the same OpenWRT version.

Maybe someone with great terminal skills can create a script that runs owut and prompt a led change or even send you an email when a new point release is out (for example, a future 24.10.3).

But you can have the habit to run owut check like every 2 weeks and you'll find updated packages for your current release.

Cheers!

Ok, I started the 1.1.3 upgrade via system -> flash firmware -> flash new firmware image
The device didn't rebbot automatically. After I restarted the device I was able to login the webinterface. I startet to upgrade to 24.10.2. image and that's it.

As I mentioned above the device receive an IP but no port is open -> I can't login...

Something must have gone wrong. The device should've rebooted automatically after force flashing the installer. Do you remember what version the web interface was on when you turned it off and then on? If you flashed 1.1.3 should've been SNAPSHOT and you should've seen the Initramfs yellow banner.

Maybe @daniel can chime in or @grauerfuchs .

Correct, I saw the "SNAPSHOT" word and the yellow Initramfs banner but I saw one yellow banner as well.
Base on the instruction I only should use the initramfs mode to flash the current release. I disabled the "save the config" button.

This means you are starting from the default config. In the default config only the WAN port performs DHCP and would hence "receive an IP", but it is true that for security reasons all ports are closed for connections from WAN. Try connecting a device to one of the the LAN ports, it should receive an IP and you should be able to connect to the Web UI or SSH. Then you can change the configuration, eg. by adding the WAN port to the LAN bridge and changing the protocol of the LAN interface from static to DHCP, and disable the DHCP server for the LAN interface. In that way you can use the device as a dump AP, which is probably what you want...?

Good morning Daniel,

everything is working again!

..., the problem was in front of the system .

I forgot that I had to establish the connection to 192.168.1.1 via cable - backup restored - done.

 Great device, :ok_hand: great operating system, :+1: world-class support!!!

Thanks to all participants.
