I presume this occurred after a short loss in power and reboot.

This is after having installed the Release v0.6.4 installer.

2.4GHz WiFi seems not to be working but 5GHz WiFi seems to be working.

Please connect to the device running in recovery mode via SSH and do this:

cat /sys/fs/pstore/*
rm /sys/fs/pstore/*

Share the result, so we get to know the cause of the crash. After deleting the pstore record the device should come up in normal production firmware again after reboot.

but I deleted the dsmeg message :confused:

all I can confirm is that the router was working fine it was flashed to 22.03.2,

and when I saw that my wifi no longer appeared it was in the blue recovery interface, after rebooting and erasing dsmeg it automatically returned to 22.03.2 and the classic white luci interface

this happened to me only once in 4 months and it was two days ago...

if i reproduce i will make the command at this time

My main concern is about the mtdblock2 read errors. I thought that may be related to 2.4GHz issues I experienced. It occured right after power cycling by switching the little switch at the back off and then rapidly back on. The errors went away with two router reboots. So now I'm slightly perplexed. At least @hnyman reported the same error. Isn't sector 256 / block 32 outside the range used by OpenWrt? So what does that mean? That some data is not ECC compliant but not used? Shouldn't we fix that? Why does it only come up with one boot and then fixed by reboot? Is it that on power cycle one of the WiFi chips went into a bad state and that gives weird reads of out of range memory?

Exactly, it's within a range which isn't used. Some things may still access it (libiwinfo for example, or user selecting MTD backup in LuCI, ...). So it did not magically "fix" itself but that type of access simply didn't happen, which can have many reasons.
Also note that problems with 2.4GHz radio are unrelated to this error message.

Isn't this akin to a child pushing his mess under the bed and informing his mother that he has tidied his room? Or perhaps a better analogy is the untidiness (wires, etc.) behind a plasterboard stud wall. Admittedly we do not live in a perfect world and imperfection abounds. We never perceive perfection (e.g. a straight line), and yet we can contemplate it. One must come to terms with the same. So perhaps accepting this includes living with these errors. It seems like that is what you are advocating here.

My philosophy here is simply not to touch things which we don't need to be touching. It's bad enough that due to the SPI-NAND driver incompatibility there is the need to rewrite the factory partition at all -- but at least I wanted to re-write only the relevant parts while validating that the offsets are correct (ie. un-doing shifting due to BMT compensating for a bad block).

I haven't ever seen log entries pointing to attempted reads of those dead gaps in /dev/mtd2 without it in the end being me trying to read something there (eg. in LuCI MTD backup function), so that's also a reason why this has never been an issue to me. If those log-lines show up during normal operation, I agree that we should try to get rid of them somehow.

If you upgrade with auc you need to manually install these packages and reboot to enable wifi after upgrade so make sure to have some form of wired access (or hotspot and vpn to the router or home network).
