Hello devs, I have a Belkin RT3200 (UBI) that doesn't seem to connect to internet after reboot (either directly through reboot command in ssh terminal or through luci) after updating to 22.03.2 release. I do not have physical access to the device (it's in another country) and I control it on WAN side (direct ssh connect on WAN side, or through Zerotier). Not sure what's the issue. Doing a power cycle seems to bring it back online.
WAN is PPPoE connection via ISP provided GPON ONT in Bridge mode.
This issue doesn't happen with another RT3200 in a different location connected to a different ISP (PPPoE via ISP provided EPON ONT/ONU in Bridge mode, different ONT vendor and model).
Any idea, what's happening?
EDIT 1: Seems like the RT3200 device had turned off instead of rebooting.
EDIT 2: The device came back online after a power cycle. I reflashed 22.03.2 sysupgrade .itb just in case.

I assume you're using ssh through the dropbear server on the router? I've seen dropbear not come up on all of the specified interfaces after a reboot, I often need to do /etc/init.d/dropbear restart to get it working properly. If you can diagnose this as the case, then maybe add that line to /etc/rc.local so that dropbear gets re-restarted on boot???

Anyone have any noticeable improvement in AX performance on the RT3200/E8450 with the latest release (22.03.02)? Have a number of these devices running 22.03.02 and when testing AX today it seems the upload speed still craters when going through walls on IOS devices (all i have to test with at the moment).

If anything, it seemed slightly worse to me. Prior AX would degrade over a couple of hours. With 22.03.2 it happens almost immediately. AC still works as expected.

It's not due to dropbear. The ISP uses PPPoE and every time a connection is made, the WAN IP address (IPv4 /32, IPv6 /128 and IPv6 Prefix Delegation) changes. I have Dynamic DNS also running on the device and the IP address doesn't get updated in the DDNS server.
It seems like the RT3200 turns off completely instead of rebooting. Both the LEDs (Power and Internet) are OFF. The device doesn't automatically turn back on after some time. The only way to get it back to a working state is to do a hard power cycle. The issue randomly occurs (sometimes reboot work and sometimes it doesn't) and didn't get fixed even after reflashing the OpenWrt 22.03.2 firmware.

I had same issue.
/etc/modules.conf appeared after installing snapshot image.
didn't exist on 22.03.2

I second that.
At close proximity I get fantastic rates with AX.
However, AX 80MHz drops to 25Mbit already at 60dB, that does not happen for AC.
I've switched back to AC.

I'm looking for some help on a package that I want to install to enable WED on my Belkin RT3200 which is setup as a DUMB AP connected to my main router. The OpenWRT device page for the Belkin RT3200 suggests that I could install a Bridger package to achieve this; however, the link to the package takes me to a GitHub repository. I only know how to install packages on OpenWRT using OPKG (in CLI and Luci). The package is not available on OPKG. How do install the package? Thanks in advance.

Bridger is there but you need to update list in UI or opkg update.

I am running on 23.03.2 and the package does not appear after updating. Is it perhaps only available in snapshot or master?

@daniel Any idea if this related to U-Boot? The device has U-Boot 2021.10 from UBI Installer 0.6.1 . Thanks in advance.

Have you enabled that setting about color / multiplexing? It's above somewhere.

If you refer to
option he_su_beamformee '1'
option he_bss_color '5'
then: yes.
My (previously) AX APs use the same frequency and different he_bss_colors.

Sounds like a broken power supply...?
As you write "instead of rebooting", why should the device reboot in first place?

I had setup a cron task to reboot everyday at 4 AM local time as per https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/base-system/cron#periodic_reboot but for now I have disabled (commented out) that cron task.
This also happens whenever I try to manually restart using "reboot" command in ssh shell or using "Luci ==> System ==> Reboot".
It's the same power supply that came with the device in the original box. The device had been rebooting (whenever "reboot" command was issued) with this power supply without any problems for about a year now (until recently).
This issue started with either 22.03.2 or just before that with 22.03.1 firmware. Instead of rebooting, it seems to just turn off. Both the LEDs are off. Device seems to go dead and only a hard power cycle brings it back alive.
can you hook up a serial console and get a log of you issuing a restart command? might help see what's going on.

Unfortunately, no. I would love to get the logs myself. But the device is in a different country and the people who have physical access to the device are not tech savvy.
I can access the device from the WAN side, using SSH or using ZeroTier.
mail them a different device and let them send the old it back to you? cause I'm not sure ca fix it without physical access

A freeze on reboot has previously been observed if a reboot happened while the CPU was operating at 300 MHz @ 0.9V. This operating point was removed since, which resolved the hang-on-reboot issue for those using the ondemand scheduler. Hence the question: Did you modify the CPU frequency scaling scheduler?
