I am trying to install on a Belkin RT3200 (Linksys e8450), but I'm falling at the first hurdle: the stock firmware keeps logging me out before I get a chance to upload the openwrt installer. I can log onto the web interface using the default password ("admin") and I get to see the status page for a second or two, then I get logged out. Has anyone else experienced this? My first thought was that this was probably a browser problem, so I tried swapping browsers, clearing cookies etc., to no avail. I then tried a factory reset, but that didn't help either. Any help would be appreciated!
(I successfully installed openwrt on another RT3200 a couple of years ago with no problems.)
This is a common issue on the stock firmware because the security settings in modern browsers have changed, and the new settings are not compatible with the old web pages. Issues like this happen on many embedded devices, especially as the device gets older.
You need to use a browser made around 2020-2021, and that will allow you to log in. The last time I checked (around 6 months ago), you could still find portable or static versions of Firefox 84 that should work.
