i'm just seeing this. sorry for late reply. yes. its a lot since its pretty new to me but yes definitly helpful, thx. im beginning to see where each has a place.
Yeah I know this video thanks for the reminder. Yes that's a good one one that topic.
Not too late, I just marked answer for somebody who finds this thread looking for same info ;-0
Are you concerned about IPv6 privacy?
Who do you ask?
I'm more worried about browser fingerprints and cookies but not stable addresses.... But here you will find plenty of personal preferences.
I just read the actual bug report...
Yes it's kinda stupid or at least in my opinion defeats the purpose of the goal of stable and error free point to point communication. I just can't follow the reason why someone wants changing address especially on network devices.
Likewise, have been disabling ipv6 forever. And while occasionally I have bumped on a service without ipv4, TOR and free proxies have done the trick so far.
But, over the last few months I have a few essentials, like gov sites and banks, that appear no longer available on ipv6. I’m not keen on accessing those through TOR or free proxies… and searching for solutions.
Stop relying on legacy IPv4 and just re-enable IPv6?
Are you sure the sites that don't work actually have ipv4 disabled and not just blocking a vpn?
Because i get this problem too with gov sites, banks, etc (like usps.com for example) and for me at least, it isn't because they are blocking ipv4, it's because they are blocking vpn's. If I disable or vpn (or go around it with something like PBR or split tunneling) those same sites work fine on ipv4 with no vpn.
In fact I don't think I have ever found a website or service that I use which is ipv6 only. I know there are some v6 sites that exist but I have never ran into one or needed to use one. For me at least, there is absolutely no downside to disabling ipv6 but there are plenty of upsides.
One day in the future if v4 ever does actually go away, I shall have to log into openwrt and enable ipv6 I guess. No big deal.
