Attended sys Upgrade not working on Generic X86

I am trying to do an attendedysupgrade from LUCI but the screen just seems to hang after downloading the image (I can't Rember the exact message, but it was do not poweroff the device ...) I waited for 10minutes and then just refreshed the browser, and it went back to the home screen. I checked the
version and it was still running 22.03.5 r20134-5f15225c1e on x86/64 (generic) instead of 22.03.6.

So, I tried from CLI and it looks like it can't download package list.

![image|456x82](upload://kOzpxwxgzfgBQ6NT4EKRkPL6pRh.png)

Is this s a known issue?

Also, when I first installed 22.05.5 on my x86/64 hardware I had to go through extend

I tried upgrade using the Advanced Mode flag checked. which then gives me the below option when I click on Seach for firmware upgrade

I then selected 22.03.06 and requested firmware image

sysupgrade 3

I got the message "Successfully created firmware image and proceeded to install firmware image and the Installing message appeared

sysupgrade 4

After this nothing happens the screen just stays there and if I refresh the browser it goes back to the home screen and upgrade is not done. I left it at the installation screen for about 10minutes before refreshing the browser.

The only information in the system log file pertaining to the upgrade is as per below:
Sun Dec 31 16:48:54 2023 user.info upgrade: Image metadata not present
Sun Dec 31 16:48:54 2023 user.info upgrade: Unable to determine upgrade device

Any help will be appreciated.

I have tried again today 9th Jan but same results as above

try adding the packages to the package list via https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/ instead ?

I tried installing 23.05.02 using attended sysupgrade and got the following error. I see some package errors towards the end and will appreciate help in debugging

Error building the firmware image
Server response: Error: Impossible package selection

not what I asked you, if you had tried...

at least the lib "error" is known.

I tried entering the model name as x86 but nothing happens

Yeah, there currently an issue with the auto complete.

Ok I have removed the wolfssl package and updated it with openssl however now I am getting a new set of errors

Read here today, or yesterday, about the i18n packages being deprecated.

Thanks for the further information. So do I just exclude those packages from the list of packages I get to see in the LUCI interface when requesting for a new firmware images? and if so will the functionality still work for those packages as I do use all off them or do I need to uninstall them before the upgrade and then install the new versions of those packages post 23.05.2 upgrade?

Just don’t select any of the LuCI translation options if you want English language. By default all packages will use English.

Thanks, excluding the en translations allows the successful download of the image

image

However the screen now shows the below

image

and it just stays like that. After 10 minutes if I do the browser refresh it just goes back to the upgrade screen where you select the firmware.

image

I was wondering if I do this from CLI (I am not super technical) will I get some more valid messages. If so how to I specify from CLI to "Keep settings and retain the current configuration" and exclude the en translation packages from being installed?
