Could it be the same problem with the AX6000 than with the AX4200, i.e. a too recent uboot?
see: Asus TUF AX4200 support - #624 by Mjules
In the moment I have no console or idea, what's exactly the problem is.
Is the console a RS232? - I've seen some instructions for the serial console, but was not really clear how to connect it.
How do you recovered your device?
Is anyone using 802.3az EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) with success especially on the 2.5G ports?
Answering my own question after blocking a troll:
EEE works on 2.5G LAN5 but only for gigabit. 2.5G eth0 is not supported likely due to being the default WAN.
Router Asus TUF AX6000 have second MaxLinear GPY211 PHY controller for 2.5Gb LAN port.
Fully supports EEE.
With current upstream patches, EEE is fine for 1Gbe
Looking at the WAN interface, EEE is disabled for 2.5G, and that's fine...
Not sure what your issue is here, but going back to MT6000, I correctly ID'd the issue, proposed a short term fix, and did a solid nudge to the guy that committed the Mediatek EEE patch in the first place.
and... not a troll here - just calling things right
Point here is that there are PHY's involved, and there was the EEE patch upstream that impacted things.
If you are in America and want to beat the 46% Vietnam tariff, Microcenter has this on sale for $139 + $6 ship. Should have older bootloader.
$199 MSRP is about to become $299 MSRP.
Saved me $40 over using Amazon. Thanks!
i think it would be fair to add on to a customer receipt - here's the trump add-on due to his tariffs...
The whole thing, IMHO, is wrong headed...
"Main changes between OpenWrt 24.10.0 and OpenWrt 24.10.1
- mediatek: ASUS: RT-AX59U/TUF-AX4200/TUF-AX6000: Fix boot problems with recent bootloader"
24.10.1 seems to fix the issue for those with newer bootloaders.
3x updated to 24.10.1 with no issues.
It has been a while since the device has been supported. I know we have been using @remittor's unofficial bootloader. Are there plans to have an official version?
Official version of factory install for this, AX4200, AX59U, etc⌠is serial access, thatâs all it will ever be afaik, blame ASUS.
That is the official way, but since @remittor has been able to do it, why can't we have an official version?
Because unofficial version is not-officially provided. Licensing issues. Again, blame ASUS. The alternative is to use serial port.

Does that mean 24.10.1 is now safe to be installed and stable?
-
No packet issues? Can someone please confirm?
-
Is it safe to use Attended Sysupgrade this time (upgrade from 23.05.5)?

Someone noticed decrease in wifi performance in the last update for AX4200. Is it the same for AX6000, or all fine?
I noticed a significant drop in my 2.4 GHz WiFi performance, but I cannot bind it with OpenWrt 24.10.x release (most likely because my neighbors started playing a f* game - pushing max WiFi power for 2.4Ghz band and forcing 40 MHz channels).
I need 2.4 GHz WiFi solely for IoT devices, nothing else. So, I ended up fixing it by switching to my ISPâs router, which doesnât give a damn about "neighbours-toleranse" policies like OpenWrt 24.10.x does, and just lets my IoT devices survive in this 2.4 GHz WiFi hell.
Also, I started using router's USB 3.0 with usb-ssd drive on my AX6000 right after installing 24.10.0, and I'm not completely sure, but I think it might also be affecting my 2.4 GHz WiFi performance, see:
Everything is perfect with the 5 GHz WiFi performance on my AX6000, though.
Looking at openwrt wiki today, Asus was nice enough to leave easy access to serial port without taking the unit apart. IMHO, new users should use serial. Note: Asus may fix that in a new revision.
- Should work fine now. See above about serial port access being easy. 23 and 24 have been completely stable for me.
- The only packet issues I have seen is a few reported some on the 2.5Gbe port and even that is rare. I have three ax6000's, use all the 2.5Gbe ports, and haven't been hit with that issue.
- I'm 90% wired but wireless speeds have stayed the same for me.
AX4200 appears to be discontinued (at least in America) so hopefully AX6000 isn't next.
Thank you very much alexq for pointing to this issue.
I had some latency issues with 2,4 GHz WiFi, which resulted in latencies greater 800 ms, caused by an external USB drive connected to the router.
I'd wager that all Asus AX units are disco'd and just depleting inventory at this point. I've not seen a manufacture date of 2024 on an AX4200 or 2025 on an AX6000, so I doubt the factory is still churning these out. I'm just hoping they make an ASUS MediaTek BE model to replace these as it looks like all their BE stuff is Broadcom atm.
OpenWrt already exists for ASUS ZenWiFi BT8
