Asus tuf ax6000 beginner question

Hello everyone
I have an ASUS TUF-AX6000 (2025 batch) running stock firmware 3.0.0.4.388_33950-g847b78e.

I want to flash OpenWrt, and the official wiki points to a Google Drive link for openwrt-24_tuf-ax6000-initramfs.trx (created on 04.04.2025).

As a beginner, I have two quick questions before proceeding:

  1. Is this specific .trx file fully compatible with my current stock firmware version, or is there any risk of bricking my device?

  2. Why is this initial flash file hosted on a personal Google Drive instead of the official OpenWrt website, and is it 100% safe to upload via the ASUS Web GUI? I am asking out of caution because anyone can edit the wiki i think
    Thank you for your help!

  1. There's always a risk, but it can be recovered.
  2. It's a temp image for flashing though the UI, crated by a forum member. The image lives inside your device as long as it takes you to perform the 2nd flash.

Using the trx is a shortcut for easier installation that doesn't require serial console access. It's not necessary to use it, but it makes your life easier. Full image generation for factory images that can be fashed directly from the OEM firmware (like that external image) has not been merged into vanilla OpenWrt (yet).

It's a conversion image, flash it and then immediately upgrade to the current sysupgrade image for your device.

OT here, but I'm pretty sure it got turned down.

  1. remittor TRX in asus OEM
  2. latest official sysupgrade 24.x
  3. latest official sysupgrade 25.x
  4. Done.

If you don't like #1, buy a serial cable. Asus is near unbrickable.

Download remittor's ubi_cleaner TRX and Asus windows Restore/rescue software just in case.
