yes i see developper can maybe help to the problem

Hi there,
I'm new here but have used Openwrt in the past and on another router recently. I tried following your instructions but I cannot access the luci interface. The initial install of the initramfs.trx file went well using the ASUS web interface and it asked for a manual reboot which is what i did. I have a laptop connected to LAN1 and it can ping 192.168.1.1 no problem but not able to access the gui. Any help will be appreciated

Did you follow the step in the instructions of

“*
Change computer IP-addr to 192.168.1.10 and wait 60...90 seconds.
*

Can you SSH into the router at all? In that case show the output of the two following commands:

opkg -list-installed

ubus call system board

make in windows tcp ipv4 auto and auto dns

then in search bar tap 192.168.1.1 you should be install two times the firmware for really install luci

first time and second time for real

Let me get back to you after I do some research on SSH, i have no idea how to but I know I can ping the router 192.168.1.1 after the flash, the power led stays solid and the lan1 port light blinks. I followed the instructions to the letter, with and without rebooting the unit after completion of firmware update via the Asus web gui. Here is what I did:
1 - downloaded the file from google drive
2 - entered Asus web interface>administration>firmware upgrade
3 - loaded downloaded file and let it install
4 - Asus says its complete and to manually reboot the router(I tried two ways, rebooting and not rebooting at this point)
5 - Manually change the ip address of the computer(using a laptop with a Ugreen cat6 cable) to 192.168.1.10 (auto subnet mask, no gateway or dns entered)
6 - wait the 60-90 secs....
this is where it goes nowhere beyond that. Router displays the lights above. I'm able to ping 192.168.1.1 but entering in firefox or edge wont work, closed both browsers and restarted laptop but no luck getting into Luci GUI.
Will keep researching as I really want to get this router going with OpenWRT Luci
thanks

@anon78773196 I tried that too no luck.

edit1: after some digging I enabled SSH in the main Asus WRT, don't know if this made a change or not but I tried a different laptop and flashed the init file, didn't reboot, changed ip as suggested waited and it looged me into Luci. I've finally flashed this router!

Hello! Quick one for existing TUF-AX4200 users: can you create more than 2 APs on this router using OpenWrt? Specifically, i am interested in 5GHz and i could not care less about 2.4GHz. I need to create at least 3 different APs on 5GHz wit 2 using wpa3 and one one using wpa2. Thank you.

Hi!
I am using a such configuration for months now (3 SSID on the 5GHz band, some with WPA2, some with WPA3). It works nicely.

Thank you.

I'm replacing my Belkin RT3200 with the ASUS TUF AX4200 due to potential OKD issues. Also, my another MT7621 board cannot create more than one AP so i had to ask.

I use vanilla OpenWrt and need modern WiFi for potential 400Mbps+ fiber speed upgrades. I rarely experiment with SQM. The TUF AX4200 is a good choice since I can't find the Redmi AX6000 locally without high taxes. TUF AX6000 exists here too but i dont see it justifies 35% higher price compared to AX4200.

@remittor : do you know what kind of data contain the partitions linux and linux2?
I can see that jffs2 can be deleted or shrink to 2 LEBs to satisfy bootloader when we use OpenWRT.

FIT-image (kernel + rootfs + dtb)

is it possible to shrink somehow linux2 for OpenWRT implementation. rootfs contains the root file system.... I thought about maximize rootfs_data.

You need to do the same:

But it’s worth considering that returning to stock firmware also needs a little finishing touches. I didn't restore partition linux2:

But there is a rough way to roll back to stock:

so you deleted jffs2 and linux2 too?
EDIT: or could we delete linux2 because I understood that linux partition contains FIT.

If you don’t need 2 x 2.5GbE ports, the rest of the hardware is pretty much the same. The wifi speeds are probably very similar in reality. Both devices are a great choice. Wifi is very reliable and strong.

Hi,
I create new BUG related to this router.

Maybe you have similar or different experience with the router.
