I am using it as a router. On original asus firmware it works. But not on 23.05. I use PPPOE vlan id 35. I checked the system logs, it's again "no default route" error. Like all the other bcm53xx socs.
I tried to flash 22.03.6, but it didn't boot up. Why?
It uses bcm53xx. If you remember old my topics, I also used ASUS RT-N18U, it also uses bcm53xx. I also tried RT-AC68U too, it also doesn't work on 23.05.2. 3 devices that use same CPU doesn't work.
My conclusion is there is some bug in bcm53xx driver. This is broadcom but wifi is pretty good, it's a shame this doesn't work on 23.05.
Also I tried 22.03.06, it won't boot. I also tried on mini CFE web server too. It boot loops.
22.03.2 works, but no wifi. On 23.05.2 there was wifi working.
Okay staying on 22.03.2 for now until it's fixed someday, wireless didn't work at first but with this command and rebooting after it works. Also I am using A2 hardware: opkg install brcmfmac-firmware-4366b1-pcie
You could also try this one: brcmfmac-firmware-4366c0-pcie
50Mbps on 2.4GHz
100Mbps on 5GHz(on internet though not local, but on wireless section it says 866Mbit max)
Good enough for me. I use wired mainly.
The issue you had with 22.03.3 and above is this one
It's currently fixed in the source code of both 22 and 23, but only 23 has been compiled as a binary and released with this fix.
22.03.7 will contain the fix, assuming it gets built and released.
Also I can confirm I'm using 23.05.2 with PPPoE ok, using the default "WAN" interface, not a tagged vlan ID.
I do have issues with 23.05.2 though. Writing anything to a USB drive seems to cause out-of-memory storm that kills processes all over the place after a few minutes, but that's for another post.
