Asus RT-AC85P: Unable to flash new images

Hi,

I've been happily running OpenWrt on my Asus RT-AC85P for about three years now. Currently running 25.12.0. However, it seems like I'm no longer able to flash any new firmware versions on it. Every time I try, be it via LuCI attended sysupgrade, owut on the command line or just flashing a stock sysupgrade image throuh LuCI, when the flashing process is over and the router reboots it's still running 25.12.0. I see no errors or warnings, everything looks like it's working just like it's always done but no new firmware is actually getting flashed. I seem to be stuck on 25.12.0.

I'm quite puzzled by this and don't really know where to go from here. Any ideas on how to debug this would be appreciated.

As often is the case, I found the solution myself soon after complaining about it. Looks like this was caused by the issue of Adblock mucking up /dev/null. Recreating /dev/null as noted in Adblock support thread - #3426 by dave14305 and then flashing resulted in an updated router.
