I successfully installed openwrt (21.02.0, r16279-5cc0535800) to my ASUS RT-AC65P. I never tried the original firware. I have a network speed problem (see below), and i try to restore original firmware. How can I do it?
I downloaded the original fw from the asus page: RT-AC65P_3.0.0.4_382_52516-gcca929d.trx
Can I use LUCi "Flash new firmware image" function?
"Upload a sysupgrade-compatible image here to replace the running firmware."
My network proble is: my internet connection is 1Gigabites, when i connect my pc directly the provider's cable modem my speed 1Gigabites, but if i connect asus router wan port to cable modem, and my pc to the lan port, my speed just ~400Megabites, i would like to try the original fw the speed in same situation. Or any idea about my speed issue??
TBH, I'd be surprised if RC-AC85p/65p MT7621AT is even capable of routing 1Gbps using OpenWrt !
I recall my RT-AC57U v1 could not route at 1 Gbps.
Check out the forum for hardware and software offloading. Thiis may help improve performance, but TBH, you need a faster ARM powered openwrt router for your gigabit fibre connection.
Asus OEM firmware WAN to LAN performance should be faster provided you do not turn on QoS.
Update: corrected URL for RT-AC85p oem firmware using TFTP
I succesfully restore factory firmware with asus firmware restoration utility. And with the factory firmware the speed is 1G from lan to wan. (With openwrt is only 400M)
Of course! I followed this video for restore factory fw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8YKnpXxhx0
But if i make a guest network in factory firmware, and reduce the traffic 1M with built in Traffic Manager (QOS) the guest network speed is 1M but the (not guest) lan-wan speed is reduced too cca 400-500M. I didnt try turn off qos in guest network in openwrt.
