And did you also do 5. Configure the bootargs and bootcmd for OpenWrt (that looks like u-boot but is called APBoot by Aruba) and the following steps?
If you interrupt the boot at Hit to stop autoboot: you're in APBoot (u-boot based I assume). Then help or ? usually shows all supported commands. One of them should be printenv to print all environment variables.
I don't understand really why you won't show the output of printenv?
Nevermind, I'm out of ideas. Your best choice is search this forum for articles about Aruba 11D and you'll find a few where it worked for them. Write a message to someone who got that device.
