Hello,
I would like to connect external antenna to my router. Unfortunately, Archer C7 AC1750 ver. 5 has fixed antennas. I thought that adding USB dongle might solve my problem. Is it possible to make this work?
Thanks.

yes,
but most USB wifi sticks have poor AP support/capability in Linux, if that was your intended use case.
Thanks for the reply.
Well, I have an external wifi pigtail antenna. What I would like to use is some pigtail to USB adapter to make it work. Should that work with OpenWrt out of the box or do I have to install some packages?
If I were in your shoes, I would always assume additional packages are required
Note that the USB port is 2.0 only, it will severely cripple the performance of a 5GHz AC Wifi stick.
The Archer c7-v5's internal wireless (even with its soldered on antennas) is massively better than any USB wireless card you can buy on the market.
