you could also try plink, which is part of the Putty suite.
The synthax for windows works with: copy /b u-boot.asc \.\COM18
*COM18 because I have also changed adapter
I have tryed with Linux (cat u-boot.asc > /dev/ttyUSB0) and Windows (copy /b u-boot.asc \.\COM18).
I see the TX led blinking but I do not get any working console back.

Any idea how to continue?
Now that you know how to do it, restart the device, and redo the uboot upload sequence.
Also make sure the COM18 settings are correct after you exit Putty, not sure what happens to them when the application using the port exits.
