APU2 revival for Wifi 6E - MT7922 MT7921K

Maybe a stupid question, I barely found something, therefore my questions.

Here is the potential setup:

  1. APU2e4 (4 GB ECC RAM, 3x onboard Intel 210)
  2. 2x MT7922 xor 2x MT7921K (are there drivers in openwrt ?)
  3. 2x Adapter from M.2 Key E to miniPCIe (to fit into APU2e4)

Example Link MT7922

I have 6 antennas (and currently 2x WLE900VX) supporting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (I assume 6 GHz could work, too?), but I guess I could only use 4 antennas given the 2 connections per wifi module.

Thoughts behind are x86 seems rock solid stable (on mSATA ssd) with openwrt and meditek based wifi. But I may be completely wrong.

Does anybody have a similar setup running ?
If yes, what components would you recommend and what drivers to install ?

Thanks and Cheers, blinton.

Keep in mind that mt7921(k)/ mt7922 are client-oriented WLAN cards and not suited for AP mode, yes they can do it, but only in a limited fashion and with a limited amount of clients. You would be better suited offloading the AP functionality to a plastic router instead.

…if the AMD Jaguar cores can keep up with two 802.11ax radios would be questionable as well, as those are way past their prime.

Thanks slx, you made my day !
I will go for a Asus TUF AX6000 where prices have come down a lot (around 120 EUR now) which seems to be a decent performing device (except for the installation what is really confusing to me given all the files laying around ... but that's a question for the corresponding thread  )

Have a great day slh !

The T-56 from wifilinks is ~60% cheaper, shipping excluded.

@frollic Thanks for the great advice !
unfortunately I already ordered the Asus (and in Switzerland you can't give stuff back, some online stores offer 80-90% money back depending on the product ...)
and Zyxel T56 is not sold in Switzerland, instead they sell Zyxel EX5601-T0 for silly 170 EUR, and wifilinks is not shipping to holy hi-price island Switzerland ...
or I could contact wifilinks and ask them if they could ship to holy Switzerland  because if the stuff works, I could replace my second AP

sorry for the long answer, but it's sometimes silly in Switzerland

as long Switzerland remains in EU, they should, just need to ask them ...

just did, crossing fingers

I had to do the same, although I'm not i SUI.

Switzerland in the EU? When did that happen?

EU as in Europe :stuck_out_tongue:

For the benefit of our friends across the pond, both the EU and Switzerland are in Europe, but Switzerland is not in the EU.
