[AP+STA] 802.11 n2.4, ac5, which one as ap or sta?

hello,

i have a repeater device running owrt.
Looks like on lot of those types of device, there a sort of "two" cards, or antennas, as openwrt sometimes list them on wlan0, wlan0-1, or even phy0-ap0, phy0-ap1.

I see it's the bgn in one side, ac in another one. My question would be : how to choose, in AP+Sta mode, which one is the best to be used in which "role", as AP or STA?

thank you vm

2.4 GHz has the range, but not the performance.

So whenever you can, use the 5 GHz radio as uplink (you can also/ additionally run an AP interface on it), it has more margins to do both well.
If the range is more important, well, then you have no other choice.
