Any decent 5G router supported by OpenWrt?

I'm looking for a regular indoor router with cellular network support. It doesn't have to be anything special, but since the cell service provides 5G, I'd prefer if the modem can handle it. Is there any 5G compatible routers supported yet? I only see an LTE view on ToH.

To be clear, I've no issues with LTE, so if that's the only option, please suggest what might work well in this category.

Thanks in advance.

AW1000 perhaps?

Er, I'm a bit confused about the ToH's LTE view I mentioned in the OP. To be accurate, it's the LTE Modem supported view... does that mean it lists anything that can somehow have a cellular modem tacked into it? Because I even found some managed switches on the list...

Looks good, but not available here. Only option I find are AliExpress and Alibaba after a quick google.

What do you mean by here?

I see some GL.iNet stuff are supported, but the 5G GL-X3000 is both overkill and extremely expensive. Similarly, the 4G GL-X750 looks good but more expensive than other devices in the category.

Uh, my physical location, where I'd be shopping for these?

Not a router, but external modem, ZTE F50.
Plug it into any Openwrt router.

Speaking of external modems, what about USB dongles? Are there any USB 3 modem I can plug into an existing OpenWrt router? I'm buying this for a gentleman for whom I've already set up an OWrt router which is not being used right now, so a USB modem might be the perfect solution.

The F50 is an USB modem.

Cheapest option is an used cell phone, since most people would already have one.

And how should we know where you are and advise?

Huh? Googling says it has its own Wi-Fi hotspot though. Even if it has USB interface, at that point why even bother with a separate OpenWrt?

Thank you for your willingness to advise, but I'd rather not disclose and associate my online identity with a physical location on a public forum. Therefore, I'd like to respectfully decline your counsel.

It's both.
You can set it up as a hotspot, or a modem.

what he meant for which side of the pond you are located in.
availability of hardware depends on your location, e.g Zyxel T56 is a popular router these days but it is easily available in Netherlands/europe only. you will rarely see that on American sites.

I know. I've opted to simply search if the suggested devices are available in my region on my own, rather than ask you fine folks to do it on my behalf.

then I (and hopefully others) respectfully agree to ignore your request for support.

That's understandable. Have a good day to you and anybody else that insists on knowing my location.

Thanks, I try.

Though I'm still confused why you two react negatively to it. It doesn't affect you whether I share my location or not whatsoever. I made a thread asking for help; if you can't, that's the end of the story. I cannot comprehend why you continue to bring it up instead of moving on with your lives.

Speaking of plugging in dongles, if I were to do that, what packages need to be installed? Would something like kmod-usb suffice? Whatever it is, I hope it's universal rather than something specific to the ZTE F50 and others like it...

It kind of does, as the 1st device suggested was only available through AX and Ali, it might not have been posted, if your location had been known.

cdc_ether, since the F50 pops up like a network interface.
Older modems would need other packages, depending on model.

I'd have gladly suggested the MF286D, but it's not sold globally, so I didn't.
