Hello everyone,I have a German ISP router, the Deutsche Telekom Speedport Smart 4 Typ B (MediaTek chipset variant). I am currently located in a region where I need to use it as a standalone primary DSL router with local ISPs via PPPoE configuration.As you know, the stock firmware is completely locked down and restricted to Telekom's ecosystem, preventing manual PVC/VLAN adjustments or generic PPPoE configurations required for external ISPs.I would like to know if there has been any progress in the dev community regarding this specific model:Is there any known bootloader vulnerability or serial/UART exploit to gain root access?Has anyone successfully managed a hardware mod by desoldering the flash memory, dumping the firmware, and flashing a generic/modified image?Is there any active OpenWrt support or WIP (Work In Progress) development for this hardware platform?Any documentation, boot logs, or advice on how to bypass this restriction would be highly appreciated.Thank you!
It seems, you would be the first person to start with this router.
Even if there were any bits and pieces to start with (i couldn't find anything), i'd recommend to get another (wifi) router and use the Speedport just as a DSL modem.
If you want a device that is supported by OpenWrt, look into the AVM Fritz!Box 7520/ 7530 (read up the device page for restrictions on supported models/ hardware revisions).
