Almost supported: Xiaomi RA75 aka MiWifi Range Extender AC1200

I have two ch341a one modded for 3.3V and one at 5 V.

Fred

Hi,
I just installed it

kmod-mt7615-common
kmod-mt7615-firmware

Xiaomi RC04 Router receives Radio1 5G, but does not work, Scan does not receive AP

Interesting. MT7613BE seems to have some problems.
My newly ordered AC1200 turned out to be RA75, manufactured 2022-12.
If anybody (preferrably from EU) has got a RC04, I am willing to exchange it for a brand new RA75.

Hi,

@tinamore

Can you make a dump of openwrt of your RA75 device.
After trying flash stock firmawre from @jdeisenh i can't enter with 1 or 2 option

Fred

This is full dump RA75 include Openwrt from Flash chip.

You try to restore !, I'm not sure it works because I tried to restore the full dump include Openwrt to another RA75, but it doesn't work, there is a boot loop.

Do you see the countdown time ?. If there is a countdown like the image above, you are sure to enter flash mode.
You only have 3s to press the key. You need to check that the UART is connected correctly, or maybe switch uart from 3.3 to 5v, because I saw a comment that 3.3v TX is not enough trigger. I am using 5v UART.

I also figured out how to open the countdown for the stock firmware model RC04 for wait input keyboard. I want to share for those who need:

It's similar to this tutorial: Xiaomi Mi Router 4A Gigabit Edition (R4AG/R4A Gigabit) -- fully supported and flashable with OpenWRTInvasion but keyword
bootdelay => boot_wait

  1. Use CH341A for save Dump stock flash model RC04
  2. Use Hex editor: Find keyword: boot_wait. You will have 3 "boot_wait" locations, you need to change the last location boot_wait=off to boot_wait=on

    Then save dump
  3. Use CH341A for Restore the modified dump in step 2 back to the Flash chip => then Uboot of RC04 will coutdown 5s for press keyboard into mode Flash TFTP

Thanks for reply.
Will check that ASAP.

Hi, I successfuly enabled 5G with RC04.

I found something related to mt7615 in the log.

[ 14.962277] mt7615e 0000:01:00.0: card - bus=0x1, slot = 0x0 irq=4
[ 15.051680] mt7615e 0000:01:00.0: Invalid MAC address, using random address 9e:6d:b4:03:c2:ff
[ 19.130057] mt7615e 0000:01:00.0: mediatek/mt7663pr2h.bin not found, switching to mediatek/mt7663pr2h_rebb.bin
> [ 19.210436] mt7615e 0000:01:00.0: failed to load mediatek/mt7663pr2h_rebb.bin

It claimed mt7663, so I tried to install mt7663 related things (also mt7615 things).

Anyway it works well now.

The link no longer works.
Can anyone share the firmware for RC04?
I want to look at the differences.

This happened again today. I tried an Attended Sysupgrade from rc2 to rc3, and the same thing occurred. Luci doesn't come, and I cannot SSH into it. Wifi repeating fine.

I don't have anything special in my config... Replaced wpad with wpad full for mesh capabilities (for future needs), and then everything is set according to the guide on dump AP mode (LAN interface protocol to DHCP, disabled firewall, dnsmasq, odhcpd).

I'll have to reset again... This is not normal. Anybody experienced this?

To all those who managed to flash the device: I managed to boot the latest snapshot kernel using option (1) in the bootloader and subsequently do a sysupgrade. But after

Upgrade completed
Rebooting system...

it always boots back into the stock image. Is there some sort of dual boot layout?

Solved my problem, mtd did the trick, no idea why sysupgrade did not work.

Can you re-upload the dump? Your link doesn't work.

Hi!

I was able to dump my RA75 in it's original state. Are you still interested?

No, thanks, I've already done everything.

if you have the RA75 original dump i'm interested.
i'd like to test openwrt on it, but having an original firm to flash it back is always good.
i have the ch314a programmer, i guess is ok?

Here you are: ra75-fullbackup.bin

Yeah, that would work - I installed OpenWrt directly: after doing the backup I just prepared that file with OpenWrt and write it back. :grinning:

Hi all,

I am on OpenWrt SNAPSHOT (r24801-b7f9742da8)

when I am entering the switch config page I see "Switch0 has an unknown topology - the VLAN settings might not be accurate."

I would like to use vlan on the sole LAN port.

Is this expected?

Thank you!

Hello..
My device is RC04
unfortunately the pin label for serial port is missing.

Please somebody send photos the right pin label for RA75 or RC04.

Thanks.

Indra.
