i have an alfa awus036nhr v2 with chipset rtl8188ru and a router huawei hg556a with openwrt installed and tried to link them but the alfa is not working i have downloaded the drivers but nothing. i tested with other devices like awus036h and tplink 721n and all is working 10/10. is there a way to work with the alfa awus036nhr v2 ?
Support for realtek wireless (especially USB) has traditionally been abysmal, let alone (not) supporting AP mode. While the situation is said to improve slightly with rtw88/ rtw89, OpenWrt has largely ignored these drivers/ devices - as they were useless anyways.
Your device (without AP mode) should have basic support by mainline's rtl8xxxu driver, should you decide to investigate this further (you may have to package this).
