Adding packages

good night everyone...is there anyway i can add packages to a build thats not supported anymore ..it would fail to update in the software tab to install new packages...reason why im asking is i stumbled upon a build in here that was build for the wrt routers..i decided to try it and i love it because for some reason it improved my online gaming ive been running it for a week now.. and my games are so good great hit detection in call of duty with or without any type of sqm or qos..but i want to add banip and qosmate to it but i dont know how too.

this is the build

They both have own dedicated threads, try forum search.

was going to do that but the last post was dec 2022 will try

the support thread is closed

No idea what youre at, both banipand qosmate threads are up and kicking

the build im on wont let me update and download the package

no wonder, that snapshot build is from pre v23, that's ~2.5 years old.

it works really well with my wrt 1900 ac v2 all i want is ban ip and qos mate on it

qosmate isn't in the official repo, it clearly says so in the 1st post.
you need to install it manually.

banip is, but you could try to install it the same way, grab the package from https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/23.05.5/packages/arm_cortex-a9/packages/ (not 100% sure it's the correct arch).

i got this error message

Executing package manager
Unknown package 'banip'.
Errors
Collected errors:
 * pkg_hash_check_unresolved: cannot find dependency firewall4 for banip
 * pkg_hash_fetch_best_installation_candidate: Packages for banip found, but incompatible with the architectures configured
 * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package banip.
The opkg install command failed with code 255.

so that's a dead end ...

you can reproduce the banip features manually, but that's going to be for you to figure out -
create an ipset with the IPs, reference it in a firewall rule.

how can i do that with ipset ..that will be great beacause i just really want the banip to block some public ip ranges

something like https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/firewall/fw3_configurations/fw3_config_ipset#populating_the_ip_set, don't assume the firewall rule example will work for you.

thanks much

not even seeing ipset on this build lol..ill just use windows firewall to block and save myself the headache thanks again

you could test older banip packages, by trying older openwrt releases.

will try that first

The Linksys WRT1900AC v2 is supported by vanilla OpenWrt for a long time already, flashing 24.10.1 would be the sensible solution…

That build is discontinued, package repos gone etc, go with official.
