that's what this thread is about, read it.
This isnβt the MF286D as you thought but MF286C3
I've got some reports from users, that images for MF286A work for MF286C, and... MF286R image works for MF286C. So again it seems like we have two variants here which are hard to discern.
Is anyone here with a MF286C with a Marvell modem, that could take internal photos and share some details? Currently I'm thinking about consolidating images for MF286[A,C,R] into a single one, and including drivers for both types of modems. This should save confusion for some users, as ZTE is known for their poor labelling of devices.
One minor difference found so far is that 5GHz Wi-Fi radio in MF286C (Qualcomm-modem version at least) is 2T2R instead of 3T3R, otherwise the image from MF286A runs unmodified.
Question to @aiemassfiria and @saforever: do you know the LTE category and supported bands of built-in modems?
MF286C as i know 1,3,5,7,8,28,38,40,41 or do u have command to check?
Output from luci-app-modemband is fine. The LTE category has to be identified in device specification.
See if AT+ZNLOCKBAND=?
will give you any response.
According to my notes, 286R is CAT7 and 286C is CAT16. 286A is probably CAT6. No guarantees
That's strange, given that MF286D is cat12, and has beefier and more modern IPQ4019 inside.

Ah, yeah, I've seen them. It looks to me like MF286C and MF286D indeed share the modem. I wonder what's inside MF286C3, which modem looks very similar too. There is no mention of that model there.
You can use MF286A image for the time being, it is fully compatible. You have the QCA modem.
Have you done anything? I have the same MT7621 device and also need an openwrt for it.
I have such device, but Marvell modem is dead, so router works only as eth device + wifi. That's why I want to upload OpenWRT and take another modem for it.
I have MF286C (MT7621) and can test everything.
Well then, it is MF286C3, not MF286C.
Hi @Leo-PL and every other persons who are doing a great job.
How can I help in adding support for MF286C3? Though I don't have access to the tools for doing hardware related works.
I'd say serial's a must have.
At least you have to have working device.
I have it, but no modem.
We have done alfa version of OpenIPC for mf286c3, pm me if you want to test.
In 1-2 weeks we will publish patched sources on github.
Yes!! I want to perform the test. What are the steps?
