Impossible with Xiaomi Repair Tool? Only Uart?
We did not try Xiaomi Repair Tool we debrick with the TFTP.
But after Debrick we install OpenWRT and we are faceing the same issue when we reboot router few times, it's bricked again.
Yes it is a problem I hope a script may be solved the problem with each start -up
or flash the old version u-boot perhaps?
Have you tried entering the suggested commands into telnet before installing the openWRT firmware?
Or do you approach the issue theoretically?
yes theoretically. sorry for my english it's not my mother tongue
hello all is safe to use xmir-patcher to install OpenWrt
Guys, the brick after reboot issue can be solved easily from within openwrt, no serial access necessary. Flash openwrt, ssh to router and before it gets bricked run commands which @remittor suggested, then reboot and you are good to go.
Stock firmware sucks, but the router with openwrt is perfect for the price, stable and fast wifi, cpu is fast too. I like it. Devs are Gods I'm only missing USB and I could use 1 extra lan port, 4 ports are not that much. I have not tested the breed bootloader yet, which may solve the issue too, but I don't fix what's not broken.
I have not inspected the whole code, but I can say it worked flawlessly. And you can always debrick back if you don't screw the bootloader.
Thank you, but did you try it youself? How long have your router been working after that? Debricking is not funny, especially when official instructions are insufficient (or I am not smart enough) and repair tool is considered a virus by AV.
This problem was found and resolved less than 2 weeks ago.
What kind of long work periods are you talking about?
The fact that the router died after 5 reboots does not die after entering these commands is a fact.
Time will tell the rest.
@nozombian,
Is it also necessary to apply above mentioned workaround after OpenWrt upgrade?
@ Lexeyko
Sorry for stupid question, but does reboot equals to power on/off ?
@All
As I have already mentioned, flashing 1.2.7 on RB03 doesn't enable telnet/ssh. Is it me who does something wrong? And if it is fw-related then why does instruction mentions this method?
And this too...
How did you find out? You cannot connect via telnet to enter the necessary commands to enable ssh?
1. Instruction tells to check telnet via h__p://192.168.31.1/cgi-bin/luci/api/xqsystem/fac_info. Both official 1.0.57 and "closed beta" 1.2.7 fw show the same result: false for telnet as well as for ssh.
2. Heck! Last time I tried ssh. Don't remember about the first, but probably it was ssh too. Don't want to check it again I hope that with above mentioned workaround my router will work much longer than 5 days. I'll try to read more carefully.
Where is this written for RB03 (AX6S)? You are confusing something.
This is written for RB01 (AX3200). There is no need to confuse and mix everything together.
There is no need to check anything for RB03 (AX6S). You just need to follow the instructions and not reinvent the wheel)))
It's not a matter of days, hours or months, but the number of reboots 5-12
Instruction says
Installation steps:
If your device has telnet enabled from factory, you can skip to step 3 (click here to access your device and check if telnet is enabled).
If your device does not have telnet enabled from factory and it is a Redmi AX6 (RB03 model), you can enable telnet by flashing stock “closed beta” firmware
Step 1 doesn't specify device version, therefore it applies to both. Step 2 mentions RB03. So I assumed that check method should work for RB03 on both official and "closed beta" fw.
What are you quoting? Did you read above that this applies to 3200 and 4 openWRT installation methods?
However, for the Chinese version Redmi AX6S (model RB03), even if it comes with telnet disabled, it is possible to enable telnet access by installing a beta version of the stock firmware (miwifi_rb03_firmware_stable_1.2.7_closedbeta.bin, more details below). This stock firmware does enable telnet on the Redmi AX6S (model RB03) and therefore it makes OpenWrt installation possible.
Installation steps:
I'm quoting Installation steps which applies to both versions, because
Some early production units were shipped with telnet enabled from factory
And, if I understand correctly, theoretically one still can buy RB01 as well as RB03 with telnet enabled, and install OpenWrt following these instructions.
You quote selectively from different points, so it turns out to be nonsense.
I've never seen AX6S with telnet open
The AX3200 almost always had telnet open.
The first sentence on the instruction page says:
Xiaomi AX3200 (model RB01, international version) and Redmi AX6S (model RB03, Chinese version) are exactly the same hardware. The only difference is the version of the stock firmware (which is region locked).
AX3200 and AX6S is the same device. So your words could be read as
I've never seen RB03 with telnet open
The RB01 almost always had telnet open.
And again, read step 2 of the "Installation steps". It mentions both RB03 and RB01. So the installation steps are universal for telnet-enabled devices. You say that you've never seen AX6S with telnet open, but instruction says
However, for the Chinese version Redmi AX6S (model RB03), even if it comes with telnet disabled, it is possible to enable telnet access
It is written in a way that makes me think that AX6 mostly comes (or came) with telnet enabled. But OK, let's imagine that telnet checking method is not applicable to RB03. Why is it not directly mentioned? And where's the proper checking method for RB03?
So my point is that instruction is a bit confusing/misleading.
