Hi all, I recall seeing the MR200 v4 listed on the Table of Hardware page, however it seems that the page has already been taken down. Did it lose official support? What happened, perhaps I can try to help address the issues.

Hey it seems like you have this up and running. May I know why this router is still listed as unsupported on the OpenWrt Table of Hardware?

Because there is no official OpenWrt support available yet.
There is no commit on github that adds support for this device.
There is no official OpenWrt image available on downloads.openwrt.org.
-> This device is not officially supported
Hello friends. No openwrt support for TP-Link Archer MR-200 V4 Mediatek - MT7628DAN RAM-64 MB Flash-8 MB CPU-580 MHz . Can I build openwrt myself? So: Target System Mediatek Ralink MIPS + Subtarget boards based on MT76x8. I can install TP-Link Archer C20 AC750 v4 or TP-Link rcher C50 v3 instead of TP-Link Archer MR-200 V 4, they have MT7628AN processor like MR-200 V 4. There is also MediaTek MT7628 EVB. Then add the "telephony" package to support the SIM card.
Can it be done or not???

My only concern is weather this will work with a router locked against Orange ISP. I'm trying to get my router unlocked so I can use a SIM from another provider. Getting openwrt as a perk would be great! Also did you get the signal strength lights working? @mrhaav

Hi
Yes, the signal strength LEDs are working and triggered by my "daemon". You need to download version 2022-04-22-0.4 or later.
I have never tried to unlock any TP-Link router and I don´t know how Orange has locked the router, but you can try to use TFTP to download OpenWrt or TP-Link official software.
changing the router firmware to openwrt will not unlock your modem to use all SIM. It only change the OS but the modem will still be the same. You need to unlock the modem by sending commands to the modem to unlock it. But there is not much known information about this. You are welcome to try anyway. MR200 V1 has a mpcie slot for the modem so it can be replaced to any mpcie modem. This way it can be unlocked to use any SIM card.

Hi There, Sorry for jumpin in with arch MR200 V3
havent' seen anything about it and would like to share my experience, I managed to get it work after hardbrick no lights no tftp etc... and many many many hours of try, ch341a with clip did flash firmware straight on the chip (no desoldering). so this is what i have done: did as for mr200v1 openwrt debricking
list of files
- Dump_archer_mr200v1.bin - thats the full dump from v1 found it somewhere on internet
- Archer MR200(EU)_V3_190307.bin firmware from tp link site
have changed Dump_archer_mr200v1.bin to MR200_dump.bin
- Export your Router's configuration by doing
dd if=MR200_dump.bin of=Configurations.bin bs=64k count=3 skip=125, the configuration file also includes your MAC Address
have changed the tplinks firmware name to stock.bin
-
Cut the header from the firmware by doing dd if=stock.bin of=stock_NoHeader.bin bs=512 skip=1
-
Export boot + router firmware from the file by doing dd if=stock_NoHeader.bin of=stock_BootFW_nomodem.bin bs=64k count=125
here was a mistake no BootFW_nomodem.bin but stock_BootFW_nomodem.bin
- Merge boot + router firmware with your Router Configuration by doing
cat BootFW_nomodem.bin Configurations.bin > Firmware.bin
and loaded the firmware.bin to arch mr200 v3 lights went on properly
- but now have no base wifi no guest wifi
- no imei shown at the bottom on http://192.168.1.1/
- sim card readable and getting ip from isp but says disconnected "Unknown failure reason. Please make sure your configuration is correct." configuration is correct
- operation mode - wireless router mode not working Internal error 1 while saving,
- no mac for WAN
- cant find which line have this mac 00:0C:43:28:80:02 want to replace it with the sticker one
didnt change other macs yet, will try to find how to solve wifi and 4g connection and try apply in firmware, if you could guide me would appreciate
firmware full dump

It will be to much to set i suppose LAN MAC is not corresponding to 007DF100 5g 2,4g FF no imei, - have someone discovered v3 ?

Thanks a lot @luke for this information !
MAC for LAN/WIFI edit 0x7df100. 00:0C:43:28:80:02 is probably WAN MAC. you can not edit it this is from the modem device.

Hello @mrhaav, I would like to ask you if its possible to build at least 21.02.x. I own couple of mr200 v4 and want to use it as dump aps. I succesfully flashed your 19.07.8 images but I would like to use "802.11r Fast Transition" which is available only in never images.
I tryed to build 21.02.5 by myself following your guide https://github.com/mrhaav/openwrt/blob/master/MR200v4/Compiling.md but it failed with dts error:
mipsel-openwrt-linux-musl-cpp: error: ../dts/mt7628an_tplink_mr200-v4.dts: No such file or directory
mipsel-openwrt-linux-musl-cpp: warning: '-x assembler-with-cpp' after last input file has no effect
mipsel-openwrt-linux-musl-cpp: fatal error: no input files
compilation terminated.

It will be very nice if you can help me to build the image, I don't care about WWAN functionality so I believe that should be done relatively easly.
thank a lot for answer.
That's incorrect, I've been using 11r on archer c2600s running 19.07 for several years, only replaced them with WRX36s 2 month ago.

Ok, thank you for correction @frollic . Anyway it will be very nice to run never software on MR200v4. are you able to help me with .dts update ?
Had someone get in touch with me about a working image for this device, so pointed them to @mrhaav's repository that should have an image with working LTE
But probably a good idea to get it up on a newer version, so I've made an attempt:
Don't have the device on hand though, so not tested on my end beyond that it compiles.
So if any brave souls wants to try, feel free. Although will likely need to incorporate the uqmi changes @mrhaav did to get LTE to work.

Hi, thanks a lot for your work on this, I am quite interested in testing whether this works. In order to make this project, would I need to copy over the config file from @marhaav's project or should I be using make menuconfig command and selecting the appropriate options?

I've managed to get your build running on my end, it seems that the configuration has some issues, the switch VLAN is missing the wan port, I have attempted to add this in the configuration files via SSH with no success.

Hi @Lochnair I have created a pull request on your repository, after merging the board configuration from @marhaav's repository I was able to get this running as expected.
