Hello,
how can I add a Alfa AWUS036ACHM usb stick to my openwrt?
It has a Mediatek MT7610U chipset.
If I plugged in the stick:
here the output of lsmod: Pastebin.com
here the output of iw: Pastebin.com
and
unplugged I get the follwoing outputs
here the output of lsmod: Pastebin.com
here the output of iw: Pastebin.com
dsmesg plugging in and unplugging gives me this:
[57206.325361] usb 1-1.3: USB disconnect, device number 5
[57647.712673] usb 1-1.3: new high-speed USB device number 6 using ehci-platform
[57671.989335] usb 1-1.3: USB disconnect, device number 6
[57682.782681] usb 1-1.3: new high-speed USB device number 7 using ehci-platform
Thanks for you help
the iw output is useless, it's only the help screen.

have you rebooted your device, with the Alfa connected ?
yes, no idea if/where something would change
AFAIK, if the wifi stick is discovered during boot, it should add a new entry in the wireless section.
no new entry at wireless

it appears to be there, unless you have other radios attached in your device ?
it is a GL-x750v2, with built in LTE and 2 Wifi (2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz)
cannot see it either in LUCI nor in their GL-Webinterface
are you sure you are running openwrt?

... and not gl.inet's "openwrt" ?
I'm running gl.inet's "openwrt", because running original openwrt I had a lot of trouble and failing at the end to get the lte modem to work with roaming, so i tried with gl-inet openwrt
I know this is not the place to get support for changed openwrt versions ... but for me sofar the only place i do get answers
then your thread should be at gl.inets forum ...
good spotting @Borromini
what is so different that this won't work on their version
dunno, ask them ...
their fw is a black box for us.
that's bad, because using orignal openwrt i did first and did not get the lte modem to work properly :-/ so now i am stuck inbetween
try to install kmod-mt76x0u
opkg update

did what you said, not sure if any of those is the external usb wifi stick?!
the GL-Admin panel looks like this (no additional wifi device)
