Good morning, it would be possible to add official support to the Linksys MR6350 router, which has very discreet hardware, IPQ4019 processor with 4 cores at 717, 256 MB of ram and 256 MB of rom, currently there is an unofficial compilation OpenWrt 22.03.2 version created by @ rwl408 which I have installed and works perfectly, only with the novelty that the wan port is the lan1 port, I attach screenshots.....
I have actually installed and used Openwrt on several devices but I am a newbie to developing it, is there any administrator or developer who could do it for me????
If I just bought it, the factory firmware is very limited and it does not have the wireless repeater function, which I currently have configured that way in openwrt and so far it is very stable, but I have very basic knowledge to create a firmware- .
ipq40xx devices are generally quite similar to each other and relatively easily supportable, but someone with the device on their desk will still have to do the development work (and any older patches will need to be adapted to DSA first) - and then show the patience to file the pull request, react to requested changes and stick to it, until it's been merged. If you take this task and opportunity head on, chances are quite good that it will be merged without too many problems, but someone (as in 'you') will have to work on it.
It's possible, others have succeeded from your postion already - but it's a steep learning curve and requires patience and persistence.
Hoping that others will do it is unlikely to be successful at this point (802.11ax is the current hot topic, so those who have the knowledge are more likely to buy 802.11ax based devices for their next project instead), that doesn't mean these devices aren't still pretty nice with OpenWrt, just that those feeling confident about starting a new challenge are more likely to hunt the next best thing instead.
