Adblock support thread

Hi,
Could anyone help me?
Adblock always automatically clear all filters I have added in Advanced\ Edit Configuration.
Anyway to fix this?
Best regards.

Hello, i dont seem to be able to make adblock work on my archer C7, simple adblock works out of the box tho.

I'm looking for an step by step on how to use adblock and enforce regex blocking settings, can i have help please? thanks in advance

@edneyhelene

I had to set Cloudflare and Google DNS under WAN and Wan6, using my provider DNS(not really a good idea) I could not get AdBlock working.
After that is working pretty well.

Hey,

is this just me or is there something wrong with these sources:

Then use simple-adblock or provide debug logs of an adblock run at minimum. BTW, please don't mix/use both tools at the same time.

which adblock version? Current adblock doesn't have such section.

nope, you'll need browser plugins for that.

Works for me.

will a future be possible? openwrt has a lot of power.

@dibdot can you please help troubleshooting these errors surfacing after upgrading from 4.0.6-1 to 4.0.6-2?

Is full wget installed (see readme)? Please provide the output of wget --help. Anyway, please switch back to your old/working download utility and run /etc/init.d/adblock restart

@dibdot, the old utility that worked on 4.0.6-1 was uclent-fetch, here is what I get after /etc/init.d/adblock restart with "Enable verbose debug logging in case of any processing errors" enabled

That means that the downloads now OK again. The remaining error is sort related (you've updated your busybox binary as well). Please re-install coreutils-sort to fix this.

I uninstalled coreutils-sort which caused adblock, luci-app-adblock, coreutils, and ca-bundle to be removed, so, ended up pretty much reinstalling adblock, but it works now, thank you.

Could've I just run this command instead?

opkg install coreutils-sort --force-reinstall

Yep, that's the easier approach ...

One of the worst sites for mass advertising and popups is dailymail.com (there are of course others).
I installed Adblock and the DNS report clearly states that www.google-analytics.com is blocked. I am running Firefox with Privacy Badger installed.
Privacy Badger is reporting that www.google-analytics.com is blocked.
If Adblock is blocking www.google-analytics.com, I would have assumed there would be no entry in Privacy Badger.
As a test, I disabled Privacy Badger and enabled Ublock Origin and it advised me that www.google-analytics.com is being blocked.
Have I misunderstood something?

Well adblock didn't change the page structure with multiple (ad related) sub request to other ad networks ... it changes only the answer (NXDomain than the real IP), therefore it's OK that other browser addons still "thinking" they have to block these kind of domains.
