I’m planning on installing adblock on my openwrt router. This router is my main router and connected to my modem so I don’t want to mess anything up. Will I need to download adblock and simple adblock? And after doing that do I just go to service and turn them on and that’s it? If there’s any steps I’ve missed on doing this please let me know
You'll pick one or the other.
It's pretty straightforward on the web GUI. You enable it on that page.

For the startup trigger interface do i put wan or lan?
I assume your DNS server are reachable thru WAN, correct?

I’m not really sure how do I check this? My wifi is on lan firewall zone so it might be lan not really sure.

- I would just try WAN if you don't know how you setup your router
