I'm working on a luci view where I can edit the config, allowlist, and blocklist files, as well as query the status (and maybe eventually start/stop/pause/resume/etc), and I ran into an issue with the status querying part.

That is brilliant! I'll tag you over in the development thread. Might be able to get the answer from some of peeps there.
