The Shift DNS Blocklist function and the creation of a backup directory resulted in even less storage space (see first screenshot) being available (1.4 MB available)
Did you already check the readme? Please attach an external storage (USB-Stick) and than point your working/backup directories to that device/FS. Same applies to the DNS Shift function.

Yes, because I expected the free storage space (see second screenshot) to be used. That was not the case.

Yes, I have read it, but it doesn't say how I can use the additional storage space (see second screenshot) of the router for Adblock.
Well just point two directories to you usb-stick and you're done, e.g.
...after that enable the DNS Shift as well.

Adblock does use RAM by default and never writes to the flash space of the router.
