Access point for traveling

Hi forum
I am searching for an access point which I would like to use when I travel to tunnel traffic through my home network.
My main criteria is that the device should be kind of portable.
Until now I have been using Netgear EXT6150 but I need to replace the device and it is not available for sale anymore.
As said my main criteria is the portability, e.g. it would be nice if the device could be plugged directly into the power outlet without needing a cable.
Other HW specs or are not really very relevant for me as long as I get >20 MBit over VPN (which the 6150 delivers easily being an older low end device).

Any suggestion would be welcome

repeaters, like the RE450 or RE650 ?

Hi frollic

Yes, like these. Thanks for the recommendation.
When I am comparing the RE650 to my EXT6150 I see that the RE650 has less flash RAM (8 vs 16 MB) and also less RAM (128 vs 512 MB).
Do you know if these differences are relevant?

flash space is, 8MB is EOL after next stable release, due to insufficient flash space.

Ok, thanks for the info.
So in that case the RE 450/650 are not an option...

then use this list, filtered for range extenders.

Thanks for the list.
Do you have any recommendations from that list?
I am not really knowledgeable on which items are good, which is the reason I am asking.

TP-Link RE500
Netgear EX7300
Netgear EX6400
Netgear EX6150

Thanks for the fast reply, I have looked at these options.
Living in Switzerland all devices except the EX7300 are not available anymore. And unfortunately OpenWRT does not support 2.4 GHz of the EX7300 bummer

I fear I need to buy a cable connected device AP or router... :grimacing:

ebay is your friend.

What aboit D-Link DAP-X1860 in Amazon around 40€

good catch, it's not in the supported list.

created a device entry, at least it should now pop up in the ToH list.

There is already a daily snapshot available. I have two of those under scrutiny and they seem to work ok. Also the installation is simple.

Index of /snapshots/targets/ramips/mt7621/ (openwrt.org)

Hi guys, thanks for the support.
I will go with a cable connected device, bought a TP-Link Archer C6 for 35€.
Cheers!
